Frequently asked Questions

How long has Southern Aircraft Sales (SASL) been in business?
We have been flying and owning aircraft since 1997.
We have been operating SASL since 1999.
We have been valuing aircraft since 2004.

Where is SASL located?
We have permanent offices in North Auckland, New Zealand and in Melbourne, Australia.  However, in a digital business there is no tyranny of distance.

Are SASL aircraft brokers?
No, we ceased operating as traditional aircraft brokers in 2015 when we changed our business model to classified advertising in order to meet the changing market.

You people are on the other side of the world to me - will I get good support?
There is no tyranny of distance in digital business - if you are located next door or on the other side of the world, our service is exactly the same.

Can I contact SASL at anytime?
Yes sure, our business operates 7 days a week. aircraft@southernsaircraftsales.com
Email is the most effective means of contacting us.

Should I contact SASL about a specific aircraft that I am interested?
Please place your enquiry direct with the seller/broker/dealer via the 'contact the seller' link displayed on each listing. We know little more about any aircraft advertised that what is already published.

What is required to register as a user?
All you need is a valid email address.
The process is free of charge and there is no approval delay.

Can I load my own advert?
Yes, as long as you have registered as a user with us.

How quickly before my advert appears live?
Quality checked and moderated adverts will normally appear very soon after being loaded.

Can I change or update the advert myself?
Yes, at any time and as often as you require.

Can I hide the aircraft tail and serial numbers from listings?
Yes, just click this option when loading the listing information and these details will not appear.  You will also need to load the photos with the tail number blanked out.

For all listings that require the tail/serial numbers to remain confidential - we still require you to provide this information to be able to place a listing, as this ensures that any aircraft or helicopter can only be listed once.

What happens when a listing is sold?
It is the responsibility of the vendor/seller to remove their adverts for aircraft that have sold.

However as many people operate on the basis of list and forget, all listings that have not been maintained for over a year will be removed by SASL.

Reusing old listing slots
Each advert listing is specific to a tail number. No listing can be recycled / relisted for a different aircraft.

What is the cost to register as a user?

Please notify us and we will also attempt to make contact with the seller.

SASL makes every effort to ensure that listings are suspended/removed where the seller remains unresponsive.

Can you provide a valuation or recommendation on the asking price for a listing?
Yes, although this service is provided on a paid consultancy basis. This service can be for both buyers and sellers.

SASL does not provide an informal sideline commentary on aircraft asking prices.

Please note that our valuation service remains independent and impartial for any aircraft that we have listed. Because we operate on a paid classified basis, we are not brokers for commission therefore we are not motivated in any way by the final sale outcome or how quickly an aircraft sells.

Can you provide a sale and purchase agreement / bill of sale for my sold aircraft?
Yes our S+P agreements are well tried and tested, although this service is provided on a paid consultancy basis.

Can SASL enforce sale terms agreed but later reneged on by either the buyer or seller?
No. We do not get directly involved at all in the negotiations/contractual/transactional detail between a buyer and seller.

Buyers and sellers always enter negotiations and contractual relations at their own risk. We recommend also checking out our AVIATION SAFE-SHOPPER guide under About Us.
